A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN

SERVING AS

THE EYES & EARS OF THE COMMUNITY

The Observers Collaborative, a newly-formed joint project of the League of Women Voters of Licking County and The Reporting Project, utilizes trained volunteer observers to serve as the eyes and ears of the Licking County community at meetings of the county commissioners, school boards, city and village councils, township trustees, etc.

The Observers attend meetings of local government bodies in Licking County in a non-partisan and non-advocacy role. Observers follow issues and promote government transparency by observing and preparing written reports summarizing the content of government meetings. Our reports are made public so as to encourage informed and active participation in government by local citizens.

The Observers Collaborative builds upon the work of the Observer Corps established several years ago by the League of Women Voters of Licking County. The Corps’ purpose has been to contribute to public knowledge about local government, learn about and follow important issues, and promote transparency in government, all in service to the common good.
